Interview with singer Smriti Mishra


Interview with Smriti Mishra,

Smriti Mishra, the singer of upcoming album of Road2tinselville. She inherited singing in her genes from her family. She got the aspirations for singing since her childhood and has a highly learned background in the field of music added as her talent. Apart from singing Smriti wanted to become a lecturer in this field and is also fond of acting. Smriti in her suave and polite essence had a conversation with us.



Why have you chosen the field of singing for yourself?

It was since childhood I developed the liking for music and singing. I have seen it in my family. My grandfather was a very good singer; my father loved it as well and was fond of singing. It was his choice to nurture the talent for singing in me and continue with it.


What are various courses that you have done?

I have done Bachelors of music from BHU, Masters of music from Bhatkhandey University, Lucknow. I Have Completed Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samiti at Allahabad. Have done one year Thumri and two years Sugam Sangeet from Bhatkhandey. And currently I am pursuing PhD in music from there.



How you got the opportunity to sing for this album? Which song have you sung?

I was introduced by singer Vivek Pandey to sing a song in the album. I have sung ‘Murcha naahi chhutat baatey’ number in the album.



Who Is your favourite singer?

I like voice of Sonu Nigam, KK, Sunidhi Chauhan.



How is the experience about singing a bhojpuri song? Which is your favourite song?

This is the first time I sang for any album and that too for a bhojpuri album. Initially I was very nervous, but my co-singer Vivek Pandey supported me a lot. He is very helpful person. I like hindi songs. My favourite song is “Bade Achhey Lagtey Hai” from Balika Vadhu film.



What are the performances that you have done earlier?

I have given Performance at various places like Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Nepal. I have won a prize by governor for singing at Ravindralay, Lucknow. Performed for singing Bhajans at Doordarshan and Etv channel.



What are your future plans?

Have not planned anything as such, but yes I would love to look for good opportunities for singing.

Interview with singer Santosh Rai:
Santosh Rai, a name with a talented voice and a devoted singer; who always wished to chase his childhood dream of being a singer and make a name among those popular and shining stars. The energized voice has enthralled various stage performances and its audience. He is a name among the upcoming singing stars that firmly believes to attain the stardom and height through his hard work and struggle.



• Why you wanted to make singing as a career?
I recall my childhood days, when I used to ask my mother enthusiastically how to be a part among those stars who come to amuse us on TV and films. But she just used to laugh and considered it as a craze of child’s mind. But it was since then I determined to be a singer and make my way to become a star.
I have been singing since 8th standard then I joined a diploma in music from BHU.
And from there I made singing as my career and entertain people with my voice. For me it is more of a passion rather than just a career.


• How you got the opportunity to sing for the albums?
Initially I was performing for various stage shows and also did stage shows for Agra Taj Mahotsav, Lucknow Mahotsav, Nazrul Stadium in Calcutta and also won a prize in Folk Jalwa programme on ETV channel. Besides these stage shows I was searching for a good opportunity to sing in an album, which could establish me and my voice in the industry. I was fortunate to get this opportunity from road2tinselville and work for them.



• Which are those albums you have sung for?
I am singing for a road2tinselville album “Dhudwa Lekha Pailu Goraii” and apart from that in some other album “Half jeans style”.


• Who is your favorite singer?
I love listening to Kumar Shanu and Alka Yagnik, they are my favourites.




• Why have you chosen bhojpuri albums? Any favorite bhojpuri album you like most.
It’s a privilege for me to sing in bhojpuri language. Bhjojpuri language has carved a niche for itself among the audience who just loved listening bhojpuri songs and keep eying for the new releases. For my personal choice I like Gopal Rai’s album “Bada Garana”. I love all the songs from the album.


• What are your experience about bhojpuri songs and albums?

Well bhojpuri songs are continuously gaining its audience but still the folk based and traditional songs are liked most and best admired.



• Who is your idol?
I highly admire Baleshwar jee who has been like my Guru. He has been felicitated by Yash Bharti as he has worked a lot for bhojpuri art and culture. Through his efforts made it reach and get popularize beyond the boundaries of India like in Mauritius and other places.



• What are your future plans about making your way to Mumbai for singing?

Well my plans are still to do a good singing and win the hearts of the audience; it could be through films or albums. I am getting lots of offer from Mumbai too but still I have to decide, as I want to reach and achieve my paths on my own.



• What would you like to say for the young talents willing to enter this field?
I firmly believe, the dedication and self belief could make anything possible for a person and it always motivates moving towards your goal and dreams.
